Frequently Asked Questions
How expensive is it to have a piece custom made?
That is a hard question to answer. Prices can vary dramatically based on the materials, finish, and hardware used. Size obviously is the largest factor. If you are comparing quality, you will find out that a CUSTOM piece may even be less than expected. A true estimate can only be made after a finalized design has been made. But one thing we can guarantee and that is we use 100% real Wood. We do not use partical board like what is overpriced and used through most wood cabinet companies , especially corporate ones. Our work and Prices are way more competitive than any other company. Also we search for perfection in all projects we complete, we are true experts at what we do.
What types of wood do you use?
We have a wide range of woods available from our supplier. The most common woods used are Maple, Oak, Cherry, Mahogany and Pine; but there are exotic woods also available. (Bubinga, Lacewood, Zebrawood)
What stain/color choices do I have?
Your choices are almost endless. Stained pieces can be custom blended. We also do paint as well, and we give you numerous choices to choose from.
What design choices do I have?
DJB can design anything you can imagine, although there are limitations as to fabrication. Some designs may not be structurally sound enough to be built as planned. The budget and time frame also factor in on the equation.
What type of finish do you use?
The finishes we use are water-based pre-catalyzed lacquer and polyurethane in flat, satin and semi-gloss. Other finishes can be applied upon request.
Are the knobs and/or pulls included?
No the knobs are not included, but we do drill & install them.
The reason is that styles, quality, and price can vary greatly.
How long will it take to have a unit/piece made?
That depends on our schedule at the time of our consultation. We usually get the CAD drawing, with the estimate, completed in one week. Once your job gets started, about 4 weeks should be expected, depending on the size. Complete kitchens could take 6-8 weeks prior to delivery.
